Marshmallow leaves, flowers, and root are both edible and have medicinal properties. Commonly used in herbal medicine to sooth inflammations and irritations.

Marshmallow prefers to grow in damp soil but I have found it to be very drought tolerant and thrives with no care. A hardy perennial growing to 4′ tall, it is a beautiful ornamental plant for pollinator gardens.
